The Doldrums, recorded and produced by Howard Bilerman at Montreal’s Hotel2Tango studio, is a tribute to all who struggle with something that most others don’t really want to hear about.

Ellen Braun is a solo artist and also one half of the music duo Trundled (with Joseph Shea). Trundled’s album, High Water (2020), produced by Daniel Ledwell, charted on radio stations across Canada, and was nominated for a 2021 YYC Music Award. Ellen has played at Nashville’s renowned Blue Bird Cafe (2022), written and performed a one woman musical – “Each and Every Song” (2023), composed music for film and for Canmore Summer Theatre’s production of “Romeo and Juliet”, and regularly leads workshops for budding and established songwriters.

Kicking off her 2025 Doldrums album tour in Canmore, Ellen recognizes the Bow Valley as the place where her songwriting began two decades ago, the place where she reignited her passion for songwriting, and the place where she currently raises the three wonderful kiddos she brought into this complicated world (who also happen to be the biggest supporters of Ellen’s art – even when they don’t love every song!).

The continued support of Ellen’s growing fanbase – who generously Kickstarted Doldrums – as well as a well-earned grant from the Canada Council for the Arts are testament to Ellen’s reach and artistic merit.

Ellen’s songs and spirit lift the energy in the spaces we are all lucky enough to share with her. She has performed with acclaimed musicians including Craig Cardiff, John Wort Hannam, Sarah Hiltz, Danny Michel, Bobby C Dove, Carla J Easton, and Braden Gates; and has been mentored by musical legends including Howard Bilerman, Kim Richey, Byron Hill, and Beth Nielsen-Chapman.

Against all odds, Ellen continues to make music to connect and heal hearts.
