“One of the most talented musicians this country has ever produced.” — CBC
Discovered as a guitar prodigy at just five years old, J.P. has played with legends like Waylon Jennings, Chet Atkins, and Stompin’ Tom Connors. By his teens, he was touring the southern U.S., and by his early 20s, he was a go-to session player, producer, and arranger with the CBC in Halifax.
His 1997 breakthrough album Another Morning became a landmark in East Coast music, inspiring artists like Dave Gunning, Matt Andersen, and Joel Plaskett. Since then, he’s released 16 albums, won 13 East Coast Music Awards, and built a reputation as one of Canada’s most respected and versatile musicians.
Whether it’s fiery bluegrass, soulful folk ballads, or traditional Cape Breton fiddle tunes, J.P. brings heart, humour, and jaw-dropping skill to every performance. Now touring solo, he fills the stage with nothing but his voice, instruments, and incredible presence.
