A manifestation of pure joy, The Three Sisters combines the considerable talents of Bow Valley singer-songwriters and multi-instrumentalists Heather Jean Jordan, Irene Poole, and Ji Won Baxter. Like so many female trios before them (The Andrews Sisters, Trio, The Good Lovelies, the Wailin’ Jennies), three unique voices blend to create musical alchemy, transcending genre or style. Named after the iconic local mountain range, rich harmonies and creative instrumentals (piano, violin, ukuleles, guitar) form the bedrock for this trio as they traverse sonic landscapes of folk, jazz, opera, and original music, reaching breathtaking highs, otherworldly lows, and always carrying with them a light in the darkness.

The Three Sisters

Irene Poole

A singer-songwriter and actor from Banff, currently based in Calgary. She has captivated audiences around the Bow Valley and beyond with her heartfelt lyrics and angelic melodies. Her indie-folk songs often take inspiration from the natural world around her. Irene has performed at the Canmore Folk Festival, ArtsPlace, lounges, outdoor venues, and beyond. Irene's debut album,The Mountains and The Sea, recorded with JUNO-award-winning producer John D.S. Adams, is out now everywhere you get your music. Through acting, singing, and playing her ukulele, Irene aims to be a storyteller in everything she does.

Heather Jean Jordan

Heather Jean Jordan is a Manitoba farm-girl who trained as an opera singer and classical pianist before moving to Banff and finding her home in folk music and the ukulele. A multi-instrumentalist and multi-disciplinary creator, her work is centred on storytelling and humanity’s relationships with the natural world, incorporating elements of wonder, whimsy, and a strong sense of social justice. Mainly known as a singer-songwriter, her genre stretching work extends to dance, theatre, and poetry. She gained national recognition for her work ringing bells through the pandemic. Composed, co-created and continues to perform in ‘Splish Splash!’- a children’s theatre/puppetry/dance production which debuted at the Festival of Animated Objects. Her poetry has been set to art song by acclaimed composer Chris Byman and performed alongside other notable Manitoba poets including Winnipeg Poet Laureate Chimwemwe (Chim) Undi, and John K Samson, and she was recently named Banff’s 2025/2026 Poet Laureate. Heather Jean has performed locally and across the prairies for over a decade. Performance highlights include showcasing at Folk Alliance International, a solo amphitheater show at the Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity, Songs for a Winter Night (Carter Ryan Theatre). Canmore Folk Festival’s Winter Warm Up, Whoop & Hollar Folk Festival, performances at artsPlace, and a return to opera in collaboration with Peaks and Prairies Ensemble. Her debut album, Some Dappled Night, is available everywhere you get music.

Ji Won Baxter

Ji Won Baxter is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Banff, AB. A classically-trained violinist, Ji Won has taken her experience in the concert hall and has woven the lyrical overtones of the Western classical tradition with grooves and edges of the Folk Revival era in her newly-minted singing career. Ji Won has performed with Carter Ryan Productions, Canmore Folk Festival and Banff & Lake Louise Tourism. In her writings, she draws from human connection and cross-class political tension in our world affairs. In her performances, she seeks warmth and comfort between musical spaces, audiences and music, where love and appreciation for art can supersede aesthetics or corporatism.
