Opening Reception & Artist Talk
Thurs. July 12 at 6 pm

You are cordially invited to the opening night reception of  in-ter-lop-er, by Selina Martineau, as part of the RISE Emerging Artist Program!

Exhibition Dates:
July 10 - September 3, 2018
The Hub Gallery, artsPlace

With her artwork, Selina Martineau strives to challenge the assumptions many people have about art, society, race and gender, and she does so through a subversion of familiar themes. “It is vital for my art to give a voice to people who have always been underrepresented.”

Selina is the 2018 recipient of the Emerging Artist Bursary from the Lamphouse Endownment for the Arts Fund. She was presented with the award at the Canmore Mayor’s Spotlight on the Arts gala.

“I just want to say how inspiring it is to be recognized alongside these very talented, established artists in the community,” Martineau said. “I’m extremely honoured to be receiving recognition for the work that I’ve been doing, and am very grateful to this community for its continued support.”

RISE EXHIBITIONS ARE FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

RISE Emerging Artist Program:

The RISE Emerging Artist Program offers three Alberta artists each year the opportunity to educate, exhibit, sell, and promote their artistic practice within the Bow Valley.  Each RISE artist is paired with an artist mentor who helps guide the artist with preparation, planning and instillation of their exhibition; as well as their artist talk. RISE exhibitions are free and open to the public.
