IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SETTLEMENT SERVICES IN THE BOW VALLEY
Get to know your neighbours! Hear personal stories of Bow Valley community member Jyn San Miguel and his friends, as they describe their love for Filipino culture. Enjoy a Filipino Folk Song performed by Jyn with the Canmore Singers. Learn about the history of Filipino Heritage Month and how you can participate. We will also learn about Jyn’s experiences with discrimination in the Bow Valley and consider ways to promote inclusion and be better anti-racist allies.
June is the official Filipino Heritage Month in Canada while the Philippines celebrates its independence day on June 12.
Cultural Learning Circles
On the first Wednesday of every month artsPlace hosts a Cultural Learning Circle. These are led by a diversity of facilitators, from Stoney Nakoda knowledge-keepers to local community members, to experts in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion education. Admission is FREE!
This online event will be delivered in a Zoom Meeting. A meeting link and password will be emailed to you in advance of the start of the session. Please download the Zoom Application from https://zoom.us/
