Job Opportunities - Summer Camp Coordinator & Summer Camp Assistant

artsPlace is seeking to fill the following positions for the summer term between July and early September 2019.

Summer Camp Coordinator

Are you an artist or educator who has experience leading arts activities with children? Are you looking for a fun summer job that will positively impact the lives of young people? Do you have good leadership and organizational skills? If this sounds like you than apply for the job of Summer Camp Coordinator at artsPlace!

Reporting directly to the Programs Manager, and working closely with all artsPlace staff, the Summer Camp Coordinator will coordinate the daily running of the artsPlace summer camps, as well as assist with coordination of the 2019 Canmore Festival of Art and Creativity. 

This is a seasonal full-time position with compensation of $18/hour. 

Responsibilities

1. Assist with planning and coordination of artsPlace Summer Art Camps for children and youth, including:

  • Engage campers in meaningful arts experiences;
  • Supervise and run pre- and post-camp care;
  • Supervise and run lunch-time care;
  • Ensure that all registration, client information and emergency contact forms are complete;
  • Communicate with parents to ensure that information is shared in a timely manner;
  • Prepare weekly room set-up specific for camps;
  • Prepare weekly class lists, attendance lists and sign-in sheets;
  • Complete a final report describing the work plan, compiling registration numbers, summarizing evaluations and offering recommendations to improve the camps;
  • Ensure the safety and organization of up to 40 students per day by monitoring and ensuring policies are followed;
  • Ensure the camps run on schedule by monitoring class changes, snack break and lunch break.

2. Assist with the planning and coordination of the 2019 Canmore Festival of Art and Creativity which attracts over 3,000 residents and visitors from the Bow Valley for three days of free art workshops, activities and performances.

  • In conjunction with the Programs Manager plan and develop arts-based workshops;
  • Communicate with instructors regarding their needs and requirements for the workshops;
  • Coordinate material purchasing and tracking, prepare detailed material lists;
  • Assist with volunteer recruitment and coordination;
  • Assist the Communications Manager in preparing and distributing promotional materials.

  • Prepare weekly room set-up specific for camps;

  • Ensure the camps run on schedule by monitoring class changes, snack break and lunch break.
