This season’s Family Opera is a Canadian premiere of Nino Rota’s The Witty Squirrel, playing live at artsPlace on Feb. 22. Known for his famous film scores like The Godfather and La Dolce Vita, Rota’s cinematic style gives life to this vibrant children's tale about embracing talents, facing challenges, and making wise choices.

Once a month on Fridays, you can watch free movies that are perfect for the whole family. Grab some popcorn and enjoy the upcoming screenings of Robot Dreams on Jan. 24, or Transformers One on March 7.

Every Sunday at artsPlace is filled with laughter and art-making at the free Family Sunday artsPlay workshops where we get creative with fun craft projects for every age group. Additionally, on select Saturdays this winter, we will host art workshops instructed in French at Les Ateliers Artistiques en Famille.

Enjoy a music moment together and encourage your child’s musical literacy skills such as rhythm, pitch-matching and beat awareness at the free weekly Mini Melodies workshops, starting Jan. 13. Storytelling, instrument playing, movement and puppet play make each week a new adventure.
