Okotoks

Next event dates to be announced

Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium

The Making Treaty 7 Cultural Society presents a new production! The premiere of Okotoks will be presented on February 26, and 27, 2019 at the Southern Jubilee Auditorium. Imagine it is 1870. The Blackfoot men return to their camp from a hunt. They are usually greeted by song upon return. They call but there is no one to answer. Most of the women, children and Elders have been slaughtered. The U.S. army attacked the wrong camp. The government was supposed to protect them. Instead, 200 people died in the Baker Massacre. A young girl is one of the survivors. She is known as Holy Bear Woman. This is her story. Come and explore an amazing production with dynamic fusion soundscapes, dance and a story you'll never forget. Based on real events and stories gathered from the Elders, this perspective can not be found in history books.
