Ciara Jayne Linteau nee Hossack was born in Calgary, Alberta. Relocated to Fort McMurray, Ciara was an active member of the Fort McMurray Ceramic Guild where she began her love of teaching ceramic courses. In 2008, Ciara graduated from the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD) in Calgary, Alberta, obtaining a B.F.A, majoring in glass. Since 2008 has been working on a Visual Arts Self Directed Residency at the Banff Centre, and is currently teaching the community ceramic classes at The Banff Centre. Her current body of work experiments with glass and ceramics pieces that combine interest in Art Nouveau and water elements to make 3-Dimensional sculptural objects for both the plinth and the wall. Works can be found in public and private collections in Canada, Australia and the United States. Her first important acquisitions were to The Sir Elton John Collection and Alberta Foundation of Art.

Priscilla produces one-of-a-kind ceramic work using both electric and sawdust kilns, and balances her work between functional pottery and decorative sawdust work. The natural world is her continuous source of inspiration with vines, leaves and flowers often incorporated into her work. Since moving to Canmore, the process of sawdust firing has captured her attention and imagination. She is continually intrigued by the amazing variety and unpredictable results in both surface patterns and colours. The surfaces of her vessels often resemble lichen, rock or the night sky, always with an organic look, and without the use of glaze. Priscilla has been an art educator since graduating from University, having taught in Calgary, Yellowknife, and Canmore’s artsPlace. Priscilla has also been an archaeological draftsperson and illustrator in remote wilderness areas including Sudan, the Mackenzie River Valley and the Thelon Game Sanctuary of the Northwest Territories. Her work is available at Elevation Gallery in Canmore. Commission work is welcome and individual instruction available.
