Kris Hopkins

Operations Coordinator

After spending a decade in Toronto working in Advertising as Graphic Designer and Art Director, Kris has focussed on arts education for the past 20 years. This has included earning a Fine Art Diploma from Georgian College, an Honours Bachelor of Music in Classical Guitar from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University, and a Master of Education, Educational Technology, Design-Based Learning degree from the University of Calgary. He has taught the Arts at all levels, from Kindergarten to post-secondary.

Kris has worked as Instructional Designer, Educational Technologist, and Learning Design Consultant for a variety of post-secondary institutions. He is passionate about designing learning experiences and environments that use technology to promote student engagement. Kris has recently become interested in Competency-Based Education models, which he believes are an excellent fit for arts instruction.

Kris has lived in Canmore since 2011, drawn to the area for the XC skiing, cycling, and scrambling adventures it provides. He is proud to be part of the vibrant arts community in the Bow Valley, playing guitar and bass with a variety of local groups, including the Valley Winds Music Association.
