Every year, our selection of unique films is carefully chosen to show awesome women achieving their personally adventurous goals. Being adventurous doesn’t always have to mean being the fastest, going the highest, or doing the most extreme things. Adventure for most of us is stepping outside our comfort zone and climbing our own personal Everest. The films showcase real stories about women from a variety of cultures and sports around the world.

The tour is an official part of Women’s Health Week by the Jean Hailes Foundation in Australia.

FILM LINE-UP

SLIDING

A short mountain sports film showcasing the sledding sport of skeleton. A female athlete skips the crowded ski slopes to traverse the Swiss Alps on her sled...headfirst.

IT WILL BE DIFFERENT FOR YOU

Lea Davison has always found her power through riding a mountain bike. A two-time Olympian, and one of the most decorated American women in the sport, Lea knows the toil, pain, and commitment it takes to compete at the highest level. But behind the accolades, she views her relationship with mountain biking as a lifelong journey filled with thrills and heartbreaks, where she picked up pieces of herself along the way and eventually found unconditional love.

ABOVE SINAI

Follow along as we meet Sarah Sadek, Egyptian native and professional kiteboarder, at her home on the Sinai peninsula. In a world where women are not often found in athletic roles, nor in the water, Sarah shows us how she is opening the eyes of her local community and pushing the boundaries in a gracious yet badass way (and yes, the two go hand in hand!).

DRAWN IN

Jessa Gilbert is a backcountry guide and a visual artist who often gets asked how she works in such seemingly divergent fields. This film shows how the creative process, whether exploring glaciated terrain in Antarctica or creating a painting, is the same.

FORWARD

While navigating a myriad number of life challenges from being her mom’s care taker, working several jobs, to facing housing insecurity, Anjelica Avella turned to the outdoors in her mid-twenties to improve her mental health. Despite feeling the benefits of time spent outside for her well-being, the lack of other plus-size women of color she was encountering on trail was noticeable.

WILD AERIAL

Wild Aerial follows adventure aerialist Sasha Galitzki to dramatic ice-bound locations in Jasper and Banff National Parks as she overcomes extreme cold and dizzying heights to perform aerial, connect with nature, and draw attention to the beauty and fragility of Canada’s rapidly changing mountain landscapes.

DROPPING MOLLY

Follow Molly Mitchell’s Roller Coaster Journey to climb “Crank-it” one of Colorado’s most dangerous routes. After a back breaking fall on the climb, Molly faces her rocky mental health and embarks on a journey of therapy, self discovery, and growth. “Dropping Molly” is an unforgettable, heartbreaking, hilarious and heartwarming film. You will be on the edge of your seat as Molly is forced to ask herself, why do climbers risk their lives for a climb, is it worth it, and will she return to the climb that broke her back?

Cycling The World

Cycling The World tells the story of one woman’s multi-year journey to see the world by bicycle. Through five continents, 28 countries and 29,000 kilometers by way of Africa, South America, Europe, Southeast Asia, New Zealand and Australia, she encounters as much of an exploration of the outer world as her inner landscape.
