Ryan-Paul Collins explores the implications of being a gay man in Revelstoke, BC, while seeking to frame a larger picture of queer life in a small mountain town. People Like Us follows Ryan as he connects with the queer community in Revelstoke, seeking their opinions and stories in relation to mountain culture and snow sports.

After the film, please join us for a panel discussion and audience Q&A with Janet Wong and local queer and genderqueer folks who recreate in the Bow Valley and beyond. Panelists will delve deeper into the topics that the film brings up to share their perspectives and experiences of mountain culture as members of the queer community. There will also be a cash raffle with prizes from local businesses including North45, Bicycle Cafe, Frankie D’s Donuts and more!

Queershred is a community group based in Revelstoke that was founded by Emma, Vinny and Kat as an answer to the lack of representation of queer folks on the Revelstoke ski slopes and the desire to create community. Over the last few years they have run group shreds, rail and skate jams and get togethers while also advocating for inclusiveness in the outdoors.
