Celebrate Alberta Culture Days with us. Join us for a full weekend of FREE multicultural events and arts programming!

Enjoy art workshops, artist demonstrations, hands-on activities, films, a community campfire, outdoor markets, and live performances - art and creativity will abound, promising fun for people of all ages to enjoy.

FESTIVAL LINE-UP

FREE; NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED Friday, Sept. 15 • 7 p.m. – 12 a.m.

Outdoor Concert and Community Campfire

Simmering Salsa, Beautiful Bachata, revved up Reggaeton... this year’s concert celebrates Latin culture! Enjoy free hot chocolate, roast marshmallows around the campfire, and dance the night away. The outdoor evening goes till 10 p.m., then transitions to the indoor theatre for a salsa party until midnight!

Featuring:

• two local bands, The Latin Beat and Desperados

• salsa lesson with Salsa Canmore

• 11-person salsa band, Distrito Salsa

• indoor DJ-ed Salsa Night until midnight!

Indoor Theatre Performances

Bow Valley Women of Song - Live Performance

An intimate evening of music showcasing the amazing female talent of the Bow Valley, both performers who grew up here or moved here from around the world and now call our mountain community home. Community Outdoor Stage

Come out and cheer on the local talent! Delight in the diversity of the Bow Valley with the artsPlace Multicultural Celebration. Stay to enjoy a PRIDE performance by the National Arts Access Dancers and meaningful songs and dances by Stoney Nakoda Community Members. Jump up and dance in a full-on parking lot dance party!

Bike Shorts Film Festival

Short films about biking by bikers, this lighthearted evening is hosted by Community Cruisers. There is something for everyone, from rad rides to peaceful cruises, and everything in between!

Abstract Yarn Embroidery

Practice basic embroidery skills while you weave your own abstract textile art! Use colorful yarn to build radial designs, or create your own unique shape and design. This workshop is suitable for ages 4+ and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Rock Painting

Saturday, Sept. 16 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Use acrylic paints and a template to paint a rock and join us in spreading positivity through the Kindness Rocks Project! These heartfelt expressions make great gifts, or can be left somewhere public to share uplifting messages.

Build Your Own Bookmark

Saturday, Sept. 16 1 PM - 3 PM

Make your very own handcrafted bookmark! Choose a theme or colour palette to collage on cardstock and seal off your creation with a vinyl adhesive.

Paper Marbling

Saturday, Sept. 16 2 PM - 4 PM

Explore the art of paper marbling to create complex patterns and try different color interactions. Dive into a wildly experimental approach or find a zen-like flow as you create your own masterpiece.

Interactive Artist Booth: Aidan Hulse

Join Artist Aidan Hulse in creating a collaborative canvas of our mountain home! Titled I Am Canmore, this art piece will be a mosaic of stories, identities and experiences in the Bow Valley.

Paper Sculpting

Drop by our visual arts studio to draw and paint butterflies with watercolor in this instructor led activity, or choose to create 3 dimensional paper flowers!

Cold Wax Painting

Sunday, Sept. 17 11 AM - 1 PM

Try your hand at cold wax painting with Artist Kim McNeil! Practice color mixing and combining oil paints with cold wax to create a textured leaf painting.

This workshop is suitable for ages 12+.

Owl Painting

Sunday, Sept. 17 1 PM - 3 PM

Use acrylic paint on canvas to create your own owl design! Sharpie markers will be available to create an abstract background with zentangle techniques.

This activity is recommended for ages 6+

Interactive Artist Booth: Patti Dyment

Sunday, Sept. 17 1 PM - 3:30 PM

Work alongside Artist Patti Dyment to paint a gallery wrap canvas filled with Rocky Mountain wildflowers and little mountain critters.

Wood Burning

Sunday, Sept. 17 2 PM - 4 PM

Experiment with the art of pyrography as you burn a design of your choice into a wooden coaster.

This activity is recommended for ages 6+ and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
