She has participated in a virtual art residency focusing on mycology and has attended international artist residencies in Eureka, California, focused on the redwood forest, as well as Mexico City, Albuquerque, Abiquiu, and Taos, focused on traditional agriculture and regenerative culture and has just completed her Master’s in Fine Arts from the University of New Mexico.

In attempting to address dynamics involved in polarizing views and our disconnect with nature, Julia explores the psyche in her art practice. As individuals grow an awareness of themselves and their reactions to the external world, they unpack the reasons behind their own behaviours and how they relate to the world around them. While Julia explores and discusses these topics for herself, she hopes her artwork encourages others to do the same.

Julia’s forest themed paintings are meant to captivate the audience with the complexity of her subjects and their interconnection within the web of life. Using colour and surrealism, Julia presents visionary art qualities that reveal the more‑than‑human in a new light. Both the perspective and the surreal approach challenge how viewers perceive the world around them and encourage them to question their inherent assumptions.
