April 13, 2020 — May 31, 2020 | Monday, April 13 at 7 pm release date!
Join fiddler Chelsea Sleep and multi-instrumentalist Jarred Albright for a beautiful and uplifting concert of Celtic roots!
Jarred & Chelsea were both performers at the 2018 Canmore Folk Music Festival, and are both on the faculty for this year's FAMI (Foothills Acoustic Music Institute) May Camp.
Born and raised on the densely forested Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, Chelsea grew up performing for Scottish Country dances, and attended workshops all over Canada to immerse herself in every style of fiddle music she could get her hands on. Chelsea studied closely with prolific Canadian fiddler and composer Oliver Schroer, and has become a well-known advocate for teaching Schroer’s music. Chelsea has taught throughout British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario, and in remote towns in Canada's North. She was the well-loved Musical Director for Bad to the Bow Youth Fiddlers on the Sunshine Coast for 15 years, and is a sought after instructor, being exceptionally gifted teaching young children, and as an arranger for large folk ensembles. In 2016 she moved to Canmore Alberta where she teaches an enthusiastic group of new fiddlers. When Chelsea's not fiddling around she can be found on the mountain biking trails, cross-country skiing, running along the river, and at the front desk at artsPlace Canmore on weekends.
Jarred Albright is a multi-instrumentalist from Calgary. He got started on the violin at seven years old and music has been his focus ever since. Jarred first began playing classical music but switched styles to learn Celtic, old-tyme, and bluegrass before entering post-secondary to pursue jazz performance. Since then he has endeavoured to teach himself to sing and play the mandolin, guitar, banjo and ukulele. Music has taken Jarred around the world to the United States, South Korea, Scotland, England, and Ireland, and while he has spent the majority of his most recent years in Toronto, he is happy to call himself an Albertan once again. These days Jarred keeps busy performing with many diverse local acts, and shares his love of music with his many students.
