Wild Resilience

A Community Mural Project

"Wild Resilience"

A community project to honour healthcare workers.

When COVID-19 hit our community and we all faced lockdown, our team immediately knew we needed to serve our community. We wanted to ensure we were addressing our community's well being and mental health as well as honouring healthcare workers. The Community Mural project was born out of a deep desire to serve and contribute through art and connection.

Through dozens of free workshops, we hosted hundreds of community members that participated in this Community Mural project to honour the amazing work of healthcare workers.

Over 200 individual tiles were created by community members of all ages and abilities and sent to Mosaic Murals, an Alberta-based company that creates large public artwork from tiles. The mural was created over a period of several months and not only recognized healthcare workers but also brought our community together and provided the space for them to look after their well-being through art.

We thank everyone that participated in this project and all of the healthcare workers for their resilience and extraordinary hard work.

You can see the mural at the lobby in the Canmore General Hospital.
