Family Sunday Special Theme: Being Considerate of Consent

In partnership with Banff YWCA

Sunday, May 1

Learning to ask for permission is important! Consider what ‘consent’ means in everyday life as you work together as a family to practice kind communication while you create your artwork. Learn the art of watercolour painting AND add some of your art to a collaboratively created work of art, by artist Elise Findlay, which will hang in the artsPlace art gallery for the whole month of May. You will create your own work of art to take home too!

The Harmony Project has an inspirational campaign that helps to normalize the language of asking for consent in everyday life. See some examples of how people in the Bow Valley are practicing everyday consent in this video:

Family Sunday Special Theme: Draw Me A River!

In partnership with Global Water Futures

Sunday, May 29

Create a picture of a beautiful Bow Valley river! Meet Louise who is BOTH a scientist AND an artist! She will guide you to make a painting that will help you express your love for our Bow Valley home.

From May 21 to June 17, Global Water Futures will be presenting an amazing exhibition in our artsPlace Gallery that explores issues of climate change through artistic expression. Take a tour of the exhibition and feel inspired by how artists and scientists alike are taking action to help protect the environment.
