Raised in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, Emily-Rose has always called the Canmore area home. She has always dabbled in the arts, her journey started with drawing and painting, and after a brief sojourn in textiles, she fell head over heels for leatherwork which allowed her to create practical art and design little portable masterpieces.
She takes much of her inspiration from the world around her. After learning how to carve leather and spending the last few years perfecting her process, most of her works feature our local wildlife and scenery.
"By working with a natural product like leather you remain connected to the natural world around you and develop a fierce appreciation for nature, life's cycles and all its gifts," she says.
In her free time, Emily-Rose enjoys hiking the local trails with her partner and dog looking for inspiration from the wildlife and flowers, or finding tasty, foraged snacks along her route. She loves spending time outdoors and will often take her work on a patio or deck to stitch in the sun!
