Conrad has lived in the Bow Valley since 1977 after moving here to pursue a season of skiing adventure. The area's natural beauty and outdoor lifestyle has proved to be an enduring attraction that has kept him here ever since.
A self-taught artist, Conrad has experimented in various mediums including drawing and oil painting. He has worked as a graphic designer for most of his life. Early influences included the Group of Seven, notably Lawren Harris and Post-impressionism in general.
He favours the strong graphic elements created by the mountains with which to explore the shifting quality of the light playing over them.
“The rapidly changing weather and light of the mountains can quickly transform familiar scenes, creating an endless source of inspiration”.
