Become A Community Ambassador

We strongly encourage anyone who feels their community’s needs are not fully reflected in artsPlace programming and wants to help make a positive change to apply.

The Community Ambassador will be part of a team of four ambassadors working to strengthen relationships with the cultural or community group they represent , and help ensure programming at artsPlace truly meets their needs.

Each Community Ambassador will work with the artsPlace team to develop communication strategies and programming that aligns with the needs of their cultural or community group. They will engage with group members to gather feedback, report it to the artsPlace team, and support implementation. The role also includes attending events, providing guidance, and assisting with translation when needed.

The Community Ambassador will report directly to our Director of Programs, Outreach and Inclusivity (on parental leave until May 2025, and will report to the Associate Manager of Programs until their return) but with support from our Director of Communications and our Inclusivity Liaison.

This is a contract position with flexible hours, offering an hourly rate of $25/hour for approximately 9 hours of work per month until February 28, 2026.

● Help guide long-term strategies for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) at artsPlace.

● Build lasting connections between group members and artsPlace through introductions, shared activities, and program collaboration.

● Invite group members to programming that matches their interests and provide in person support. For example: assisting with informal translation or helping instructors during classes and workshops.

● Encourage group members to attend programming by distributing information about relevant classes, workshops, or performances, and offering a 50% discount on ticket purchases, when applicable.

● Promote the Discover Art Access Program (artsPlace’s subsidy program) as a way to stay involved in programming at artsPlace.

● Help create content for social media by capturing meaningful moments and interactions and sharing with the artsPlace team.

● Gather feedback on current programming and share ideas with the program team at artsPlace.

● Keep track of progress and measure how well efforts are working to engage groups.

● Attend artsPlace team meetings, as needed.

The qualifications listed below match what we are seeking in a candidate, but we will consider applications from any interested person who has a strong passion for the arts, community, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility.

● Passion for promoting Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA) at artsPlace and building strong community connections.

● Strong involvement in the Bow Valley community and appreciation for the arts.

● Deep understanding of and strong ties to the cultural or community group you represent, whether through lived experience, community involvement, or professional expertise

● Ability to track progress using both stories and data (e.g., spreadsheets).

● Skills to support and engage with people as they learn about IDEA.

We’re looking for individuals and groups to become ambassadors for this initiative. We especially encourage people from communities that face barriers to apply. This includes Indigenous peoples, racialized and ethnocultural communities, immigrants and refugees, people with disabilities, 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, children, youth, family-focused groups, and others who face social or financial difficulties.
