Celebrating Stoney Nakoda Children's Authors

In the Spirit of Reconciliation, many people are asking themselves questions such as:

How do we teach our children about Indigenous history and culture in a way that is respectful of Indigenous Peoples?

How do we open the difficult conversation about residential schools with younger people?

What are some ways we can help young people be supportive of local Indigenous culture?

In this Online Cultural Learning Circle, we will meet some local Stoney Nakoda authors who have written children’s books that celebrate Stoney Nakoda culture through story. During this session we will have a chance to ask these authors questions, and to hear their advice about how to open important conversations about Indigenous culture with children.

Facilitated by Stoney Nakoda Community Member Travis Rider

On the first Wednesday of every month artsPlace hosts a Cultural Learning Circle. These are led by a diversity of facilitators, from Stoney Nakoda knowledge-keepers to local community members, to experts in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion education. Admission is FREE!
